Terms & Conditions

Last Updated: 1 Jan, 2026

Welcome to Bytewise Coding. Because our students are minors (ages 7–18), this agreement must be read and agreed to by a Parent or Legal Guardian. By checking the consent box during registration, you (the "Parent/Guardian") agree to the following terms on behalf of your child (the "Student").

1. Class Reservation and Payment

Group Classes & Capstone Projects: Enrollment is operated on a first-come, first-served basis and is only confirmed upon payment. To ensure enrollment and schedule confirmation, students must settle the full course payment no less than 72 hours before the start of the first class.

1-on-1 / Private Classes: Payment will be settled after the class. Payment must be made within 5 business days from the issuance of the invoice to prevent disruption to future class scheduling.

Personal Projects: The payment schedule for each personal project will be outlined in the project overview shared with students prior to the class starting.

2. Refund and Transfer Policy

Strict No-Refund Policy: Bytewise Coding does not provide refunds for classes which have been paid.

No Transfers: Students may not transfer payment for classes to another class or between students, regardless of their relation to each other.

3. Class Cancellation and Attendance

1-on-1 / Private Classes: Only 1-on-1 or private classes are eligible for cancellation. Parents must notify Bytewise Coding no less than 24 hours in advance. Failure to provide 24 hours' notice will result in the full price of the class being charged, and no refund or replacement class will be provided.

Medical Emergencies: In the event of illness or a medical emergency, please notify Bytewise Coding as soon as possible. If a valid doctor's note is provided, the class will not be charged.

Group Classes & Capstone Projects: If a student is unable to attend a scheduled in-person class, they may opt to attend the class online. If the student is unable to attend online, the class will not be recorded. However, students will be provided with class notes, and Bytewise Coding will make a best effort to schedule a review session prior to the next lesson. There will be no refunds provided for missed group or capstone sessions.

4. Bad Weather Policy

Severe Weather Signals: In the case of a T8 weather signal or Black Rainstorm warning, if the signal is hoisted 2 hours before the class is due to start, all in-person classes will automatically be moved online.

General Bad Weather: If there is bad weather without the relevant signals hoisted by the Hong Kong Observatory (HKO), students can request to move their in-person classes to online classes. There will be no other bad weather arrangements or refunds provided.

5. AI-Specific Disclaimers and Safety

Our curriculum involves the use of third-party Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools. While we implement safety guidelines and monitor classroom activity, the Parent/Guardian acknowledges:

  • Unpredictability: AI models generate responses dynamically and can occasionally produce inaccurate information ("hallucinations") or unexpected content. Bytewise Coding is not liable for the specific outputs generated by third-party AI tools.
  • Data Privacy: Students are strictly instructed never to input Personally Identifiable Information (PII)—such as full names, addresses, phone numbers, or passwords—into any AI prompt.

6. Student Code of Conduct & Acceptable Use

  • Respect: Students must treat peers, instructors, and equipment with respect. Bullying, harassment, or disruptive behavior will not be tolerated.
  • Acceptable Tech Use: Computers and internet access are for educational purposes only. Students may not attempt to bypass security filters, access inappropriate websites, or use AI tools to generate harmful, offensive, or explicit content.
  • Consequences: Bytewise Coding reserves the right to suspend or dismiss any student who repeatedly violates these rules without a refund.

7. Media and Promotional Release (Opt-Out Policy)

Default Opt-In: Bytewise Coding frequently takes photographs, video recordings, and screenshots of students and their AI projects during classes for promotional purposes (website, social media, marketing). By enrolling your child, you grant Bytewise Coding a royalty-free, perpetual license to use these media assets.

How to Opt-Out: If you do not want your child's image or voice used in promotional materials, you must explicitly opt-out by sending a written request to info@bytewisecoding.com prior to the student's first day of class. Please include the student's full name and enrolled class.

8. Personal Data Collection Statement (PDPO Compliance)

Personal data collected during registration will be used solely for enrollment, communication, and administrative purposes in accordance with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (PDPO) of Hong Kong. Bytewise Coding respects your privacy and will not sell or distribute your personal data to third parties without your explicit consent.

9. General Liability Waiver

The Parent/Guardian assumes all risks associated with the Student's participation in Bytewise Coding programs. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Parent/Guardian agrees to release and hold harmless Bytewise Coding, its owners, instructors, and affiliates from any claims, liabilities, damages, or injuries arising from participation, except in cases of gross negligence. Bytewise Coding is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property.

10. Miscellaneous

Instructor Substitution: Class teachers may be replaced or substituted without prior notice or warning to students at our discretion.

Final Decision: In the case of any dispute regarding these terms, policies, or center operations, Bytewise Coding reserves the right to make the final decision.

11. Agreement and Acknowledgment

By checking the mandatory consent box on the registration form, I certify that I am the Parent or Legal Guardian of the enrolled Student. I have read, understood, and agree to be bound by all the terms, conditions, and policies outlined in this document.
